Find your style
Look in your closet! Do you see more of certain colors than others? Write those preferred colors down and keep that in mind for your color palette. You want to pick colors and patterns you are drawn to, so that you are in love with your photos AND that perfect fit.
Base & accent colors
Now that you have 2-3 preferred colors chosen, think of patterns and textures that could go with it. Or if those few colors compliment one another, and you'd like to add accessories or texture.
Patterns & textures
If your going with a patterned piece, find accent colors that match with the patterned piece. You don't want to be too busy, but you also want to accent that beautiful piece that you love so much.
Seasonality
Lastly, it can be helpful to match you color palette to the season. For example, Winter, you want to aim darker. Summer, warm and bright. if you can't find style that you love, aim for the season!
Planning for more than one?
Matching outfits isn't a necessity, but color coordinating is a must! Bring out your aesthetic and flatter your look with your favorite color schemes. Color coordination adds style and appeal to any session.
Check out this lovely summer palette. The lovely family to the left modeled this palette perfectly, with a moody summer vibe and lovely floral print complemented by accessories to match. For this maternity session, mom wore a show stopper piece with dad and kiddo accenting her floral print dress.

Despite the season, you can always find colors that fit you. Whether you prefer darker colors, bright colors or even pastels. The chart above helps depict amazing colors to start you seasonal palette- with colder seasons aiming for darker colors and warmer seasons aiming for lighter colors.
Fit your aesthetic!
Dark & Moody
A big tip for dark and moody outfits is always finding something to accent your look, whether it be a cardigan/jacket, jewelry, or another accessory. You can't go wrong with accessories that add the perfect touch, completing that gorgeous fit!
Light & Airy
Light & airy outfits are bright and cheerful, but are also completed well with natural earthy tones. For men this is easier, a nice white shirt with jeans and a belt will flatter any look your lady is wearing. For women, a pair of neutral shoes, jewelry, or even that cute boho hat you've been dying to wear.
Neutral & Earthy
You can't go wrong with earth tones, flattering for every complexion and any lighting. Earth tones are accented perfectly with both dark and light pieces. Creating simple yet classy look that pulls in a calm aestethic.
Tips for women
Now ladies, I know this all too well. Picking the perfect outfit can turn into a hassle. Dresses are elegant and flattering, jeans and a blouse bring in that dress casual look you love, but you just can't choose. Pick an outfit you love and feel confident in, that is the most important thing! And don't forget to accessorize. A simple necklace, set of bracelets, or those earrings you adore. Once you have your outfit picked, and accessories set, all that's left is your hair and (maybe) makeup!
Tips for men
Alright men, now if you're doing a solo session I highly recommend slacks or jeans and a nice button down. There is no such thing as overdressing for a photoshoot. If you are doing session with your significant other you can pair a nice shirt with jeans or slacks, as long as you are comfortable. A big tip for couples or family sessions is, look at you significant others outfit and color coordinate. Theres nothing cleaner looking than matching without actually matching.
Tips for children
And lastly but not least, those precious littles ones who just love two get down and dirty. Children love to run and play, so ensure your kiddo is comfortable. Little dresses or tiny overalls are always perfect matches for any looks mom and/or dad are rocking.
